7th at the Bacardi Cup!
Iain Murray and I placed 7th overall in the historic Bacardi Cup Star class regatta in Miami last week.
We thought we had stitched up 6th overall, but the Polish competitor was holed whilst in 30th place halfway through the last race. He had to retire, but the jury redressed him to 11th place using logic that currently escapes me. (more…)
Evolution wins Farr40 Nationals with a race to spare
Richard Perini’s Evolution won the Farr40 Nationals in a dominant performance last week off Sydney’s Pittwater.
I have worked with these guys as a coach since October 2003. It is a pleasure to work with a team of blokes so committed to improving their sailing skills. This applies as much to off the boat with their fitness, as on the boat with all the finer details of combining and communicating as the strongest team they can be. (more…)
One Race to go at the Bacardi Cup
Iain and I are in 6th place with one race to sail at the Bacardi Cup in the Star Class in Miami Florida. Top 5 would be a reasonable result in this 90 boat fleet. Results can be found through www.starclass.org
Here is a picture of Iain just about to get to work on a big repair in the bow before the regatta begun. Also pictured is our guest coach, Mike Fletcher. More about Fletch later though. Time for the the rack now.
