Again, it’s been far too long since my last blog posting. I am sure even Mum and Chucky have given up on me by now.

I have joined Sydney’s Guy Stenning and his crew in Newport, RI for the Mumm30 worlds, acting as coach.
We start racing on Wed 1st Oct.
The crew is Guy, Darren “Twirler” Jones, Steve Maconaghy, Stan Eldershaw and Steve Quigley from Sydney, Tim Davis from Melbourne and Curtis Florence from the USA. Traks Gordon is also here and is doing a great job in preparing the boat. We also have Katherine Leonard making us our meals, which are awesome. (more…)
Richard Perini’s Foriegn Affair Has just finished in second overall in the Mumm30 Worlds in Miami, Florida. the French team of Twins were solid winners, having won the last race to seal a 12 point victory over my blokes. (more…)
Richard Perini’s Farr40, Team Evolution finished 5th last week in the North American title, held at Newport Rhode Island.

The boys had a bad start to the event in placing 19th and 12th in the first two heats. From that point they sailed as well as anyone to climb back to 5th by the last race. (more…)
Seve Jarvin, Sam Newton and Rob Bell, representing Australia and the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia finished second in the Nations Cup Match Racing Regional Final held in Auckland over the past few days. They were beaten 3-0 in the final by New Zealand’s Simon Dickey, but there was some controversy as the boats got back to the dock.

On Easter Monday, I accompany the Match Racing team from the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia to Auckland for the regional qualification regatta for the prestigious ISAF Nations Cup.
I am with the team in the role of coach. My team is Seve Jarvin, Rob Bell and Sam Newton. They are highly credentialled in the youth ranks of match racing, having had success in most of the youth events around the world.

Richard Perini’s Evolution won the Farr40 Nationals in a dominant performance last week off Sydney’s Pittwater.
I have worked with these guys as a coach since October 2003. It is a pleasure to work with a team of blokes so committed to improving their sailing skills. This applies as much to off the boat with their fitness, as on the boat with all the finer details of combining and communicating as the strongest team they can be. (more…)
Richard Perini’s Team Evolution placed fourth at the Farr40 Alfa Romeo Regatta on Sydney Harbour over the weekend.

The last two weeks have seen activity in the Farr40’s with a keen group forming a training squad in the lead up to the a series of regattas that culminate in the Nationals at Pittwater in March.

The guys I coach on Richard Perini’s Evolution are the “drivers” behind the training squad, leading up to a defence of their world title in Newport Rhode Island this coming September.
