The new Australian Sailing Team

Earlier this month, Iain Murray and I were selected to join the Australian Sailing Team, which is a squad of Australia’s best performing sailors from the eleven Olympic classes.

We attended a two-day series of meetings and presentations and a dinner at Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron to launch the new concept of the AST. The main objective of the Sailing Team is to win medals in Bejing through a more focused approach from the management and for the sailors to be better supported and coached. There is also better oppurtunities for the sailors to share ideas and experiences across the classes by mixing together more than in the past.

The team has it’s own website (linked on the left side of my home page), which has well wriiten biographies of all the sailors by Yachting journo Di Pearson. There is a whole lot of info and pictures there.

Congratulations to Yachting Australia for getting this far.
